De kandidaat die ik vanmorgen de eerste beginselen bij mocht brengen is er in ieder geval 100% van overtuigd dat ze vanachter het stuur van een mooie touringcar de komende jaren een boel plezier gaat beleven. En ik geloof haar. Want de voorgeschiedenis is een zeer herkenbare; van alles gedaan in het leven, daar veel plezier in gehad, maar steeds weer dat knagende gevoel van die touringcar…… Wat zou het toch mooi zijn. Maar ondertussen steeds tegengehouden worden door allerlei logische en minder logische redenen. Omstandigheden thuis (erg belangrijk, moet je zeker rekening mee houden!), de omgeving die er wat van vindt of misschien wat van gaat vinden (zeer herkenbaar, ik weet nog exact de reactie van mijn moeder toen ze hoorde dat ik -terwijl ik een prima baan in lijn met mijn HBO-opleiding had- mijn jongensdroom aan het realiseren was) en daarnaast niet in de laatste plaats het financiële plaatje. Want de kosten van het halen van een rijbewijs voor bus of touringcar zijn niet niks. Anderzijds is het een investering voor het leven en als je de kosten afzet tegen de uren die kunt maken in deze branche waarin een enorm te kort aan goed opgeleide vakbekwame touringcarchauffeurs is dan valt het eigenlijk allemaal best mee.
Maar goed, deze kandidaat had de keuze gemaakt en ik moet zeggen dat het altijd weer een voorrecht is om de eerste uren met een ’nieuweling’ op pad te gaan. Naast de gezonde spanning is daar iedere keer weer die enorme blijdschap dat ze eindelijk op een bus rijden. Dat ze doen waar ze al zolang over nagedacht hebben. Een prima leermoment waarvan we er tijdens de lessen vele meemaken.
Maar wat zijn het nu voor mensen die dan op enig moment besluiten dat felbegeerde rijbewijs D te gaan behalen? Ik heb de afgelopen jaren werkelijk iedereen voorbij zien komen.
